Students Win MLK Essay Contest

Three DLS juniors are the winners of the Second Annual DLS Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, sponsored by the Student Diversity Committee.

The winners are Paul Manuszak, Christian Stelkic, and Vincent Manzo.

The essay required students to write a 500-word essay on the topic “How can Dr. King’s Dream be advanced among your peers, and to relate their own personal ideas or experiences and to show their own understanding of Dr. King’s ideals. Entries were judged on the basis of clearly expressed, creative ideas, as well as correct grammar and writing skills.

The students each received a $100 cash prize from the Diversity Committee.

Mr. Dominic Reid is the moderator of the group, whose leaders include Jason Kathawa, Isaiah Johnson, and David Jimenez.
