Super Bowl Champ Godfrey Presents Golden Football

Chris Godfrey, DLS Class of 1975, presented De La Salle with a “Golden Football” this week, as part of the National Football League’s Celebration of the 50th Super Bowl.

A stand-out Pilot football player, Chris went on to play at the University of Michigan, and then played professionally for the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Chris was a starter for the Giants in Super Bowl XXI against the Denver Broncos.

Chris presented the Golden Football to Br. Jerome Stevens, FSC, now retired, who was Principal of DLS when Chris was a student. He described Br. Jerome as his “first agent” as Br. Jerome touted Chris’s abilities to football recruiters from the University of Michigan.

Chris went on to earn a law degree at the University of Notre Dame, and founded Life Athletes.

For the last few years, Chris has spoken to seniors as part of their day-long “Legacy and Leadership” retreat.
