Mr. Michael Watson has been named Director of Athletics at De La Salle Collegiate High School. Watson assumed his duties on August 1, 2016.

Watson was attracted to De La Salle because “De La Salle’s reputation speaks for itself. I have the opportunity to exercise my faith in my profession, which has always been a goal of mine.”

Most recently, he was Director of Athletics for the Oxford, MI Community Schools (2009-2015). He also has previous experience as the Director of Interscholastic Athletics for the Muskegon, MI Public Schools, and as Director of Interscholastic Athletics at Rochester High School, Rochester Hills, MI.

DLS President John M. Knight said, “We are blessed and very fortunate to be able to hire a person of Mike’s deep experience and exceptional professional background. Mike is a welcome addition to our Lasallian Family.”

As Director of Athletics, Watson is responsible for De La Salle’s 13 sports, and is the De La Salle representative to the Catholic High School League (CHSL). Watson states, “I am looking forward to maintaining the connection between the Lasallian Mission and the Athletic Program.”

Watson has coached varsity baseball, varsity swimming, and football. He is a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School, his hometown high school, north of East Lansing. He attended the University of Michigan, earning a degree in Sports Management and Communication in 1999.
