De La Salle singles display depth

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The 2019-20 bowling season officially kicked off Monday, with De La Salle Collegiate proving it will once again be a team to contend with this season.

More than 40 bowlers converged at Country Lanes in Farmington Hills for the Catholic League varsity singles event. Three Pilots finished among the top nine, who all received medals.

Junior Jack Gohlke led the way with a fourth-place showing, rolling a 4-game series of 833 to pace DLS's individuals. Teammate Alexander Thorn, a senior, was fifth overall with a 821 total. Fellow senior Salvatore Aiello was ninth with a score of 748.

Divine Child's Paul Scheuher topped the field with an 892 series, beating out U-D Jesuit's Jack Sisco (847) and Catholic Central's Tyler Jackson (846). In all, De La Salle and Jesuit had three medalists each, with Divine Child claiming two and Catholic Central one.

De La Salle's team depth was evident as eight Pilots finished among the top 22 at the event. Sophomore Matthew Lachajewski (684), juniors Lorance Morrison (673) and Rafe Dewar (670) finished 15th, 16th and 17th overall, while senior Andrew Rusu (662) was 20th followed by junior Andrew Barkiewicz (651) in 22nd place overall. Seniors Jacob Cosart (616) and Luke Childs (612), and juniors Brent Charrette (590) and Joshua Hoenscheid (518) also competed for the Pilots.
