Pilots bounce back, take third at Shorian Challenge

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. - A week after struggling to a 17th place finish at the Bakers Dozen Invitational - and missing tournament play by less than 10 pins - the De La Salle Collegiate varsity bowling team righted the ship Saturday at the Shorian Bakers Dozen Challenge at Shore Lanes in St. Clair Shores.

The Pilots qualified fourth out of 20 teams and won their quarterfinal matchup with Anchor Bay, 211-164, 165-191, 174-122. They then fell to Chippewa Valley, 168-165 and 169-142, in the semifinals. The team bounced right back to defeat Utica in straight games, 232-167 and 187-186, to finish third.

De La Salle, which split a pair of Catholic League East matches last week against Divine Child (loss) and St. Mary's (win), will face off against U-D Jesuit Monday at Sterling Lanes before facing off against Detroit Catholic Central Thursday at Bowl One Lanes in Troy.
