DETROIT - In a back and forth game with major implications on the Catholic League Central Division race, it was U-D Jesuit's Robert Williams' goal with just under 33 minutes to play that proved to be the difference in the Cubs' 1-0 win over De La Salle Thursday night on their home field.
Though they had several scoring opportunities throughout the game, the Pilots just couldn't cash in.
"I've got to be fair, the harder-working team won tonight," said Pilots coach Thaier Mukhtar, whose team dropped to 1-1-2 in league play. "We have to learn to get better and better and better and move on."
With the win, Jesuit improved to 3-0-2 in the league. De La Salle (5-5-3 overall) returns to action Tuesday against Detroit Catholic Central at Macomb Community College and will wrap up league play Thursday at Brother Rice.
