STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — The De La Salle Collegiate bowling team continued to take steps forward in its quest to be peaking at the right time of the season on Saturday, qualifying sixth and reaching the quarterfinal round at the Tri-County Invitational at 5-Star Lanes in Sterling Heights.
A week after qualifying 11th at the Macomb County Championships, the Pilots were top six this weekend after shooting a 2,372 for their 12 games. They defeated 11th-seeded Anchor Bay in the Round of 16 (201-224, 215-195, 201-168). De La Salle then fell in the quarterfinal round to Sterling Heights Stevenson (164-187, 220-198, 172-247).
Utica Eisenhower defeated Stevenson in the finals.
The Pilots have qualified 17th (Bakers Dozen Invite), third (Shorian Team Bakers Dozen Challenge), 11th (Macomb County), and sixth (Tri-County) at team tournaments this season. Next up on the schedule is a Catholic League matchup with St. Mary's on Monday and the Bowl Swami Team Challenge on Feb. 1.
