Class of 2017 Heads to College

The 184 graduates in the De La Salle Collegiate Class of 2017 are headed to numerous universities this Fall, as well as United States military academies. 

  • Matthew Dahn is headed to the United States Air Force Academy, 
  • Jacob Babe is headed to the United States Naval Academy
  • Zach Breininger also received an academy appointment, but has decided to attend the University of Michigan. 

Most students are staying in Michigan, attending state universities. Approximately 13 are attending the University of Michigan, while 27 are headed to Michigan State University, 24 to Oakland University, and about a dozen each to Central Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Western Michigan University. 

Other instate choices include Michigan Technological University, Lawrence Tech, Northwood, Albion, Aquinas, Ferris State, Kettering, Grand Valley, and the University of Detroit-Mercy. 

Intended majors are primarily Business, Engineering, and Medicine. 

Both the Class of 2017 Valedictorian Jason Kathawa and Salutatorian Russell Hu are attending the University of Michigan, and majoring in Business and Engineering, respectively.
