WARREN, Mich. (April 10, 2019) – Eight De La Salle Collegiate students will receive Sacraments of Initiation during upcoming services at St. Louise Parish in Warren. The students are preparing through their Theology classes, as well as additional instruction from Father Michael Suhy, De La Salle chaplain and pastor at St. Louise.

Receiving their sacraments on Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil Mass (April 20) are seniors Max O’Brien (Confirmation) and Jacob Tousignant (Eucharist and Confirmation), sophomore Paul Kelliker (Eucharist, Confirmation), and freshmen Jordan Antoine (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist), Joshua Davey (Confirmation), and Gavin Urban (Eucharist, Confirmation).

Seniors Evan Brengman and Devin Ruiz will be confirmed at St. Louise on June 2.

All nine were blessed by Father Suhy at De La Salle’s Ash Wednesday liturgy.

According to campus minister Kathleen Fraylick, students identified themselves in Theology classes as wishing to finish their sacraments during the school year.

“Traditionally, the Sacraments of Initiation take place within an individual’s parish community,” Joe Gerardi, vice president of mission and ministry said. “In some cases our school becomes the primary faith community for our students. I am grateful that Father Suhy has been able to shepherd these young men in their preparation for the sacraments and has opened his parish to the celebration of these sacraments for our students. It is my hope that we get a large turnout at the Easter vigil at St. Louise from our De La Salle community.”

Any student who is missing a sacrament, and is interested in finishing, should reach out to Fraylick.

“We can make it happen for them,” she said.
