Alumni Spotlight: Patrick Sierawski, Class of 2007

“As long as I can remember, this is what I have wanted to do.”

That’s Patrick Sierawski, De La Salle Collegiate Class of 2007, talking about his career path to the legal profession.

Patrick points to his father Stephen Sierawski, Chief Judge of the 41A District Court in Macomb County, as key in his decision to go into law.

“Even in elementary school (at St. Lawrence in Utica) and at school career days, I would always talk to attorneys,” Patrick said.

He attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Political Science. After a year break, Patrick was back in the classroom at Wayne State University, where he earned his law degree in 2015.

After law school, he joined the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. For the past five years, he has served as Deputy Chief of the Juvenile Unit, working closely with Child Protective Services. He also has served as Chief of the Internet Crimes and Human Trafficking Division.

He has served as a scoring judge for the high school Mock Trial Competition (De La Salle has had a team in that competition for several years).

Patrick has decided to take the next step in his legal career and is on the November ballot in Macomb County for the 41A District Court.

“One thing that was instilled in me at a very young age was the importance of serving and giving back to one’s community,” he said.

“I am very proud of all that Patrick has achieved since graduating from De La Salle,” said Greg Esler, Director of Advancement. “Much of Patrick’s success can be attributed to DLS. However, his strong Catholic upbringing from his parents certain also paved the way for his success.”

Patrick recently made a generous donation to the school and said, “Why would I not want to get involved and give back to the school that has helped me get to where I am?”

“I have great reverence for what De La Salle has done to make me the person that I am,” he said. “De La Salle is truly one of the things most important for my success in life. Dedication and hard work and doing the best that you can. Those principles were instilled in me by my family and solidified at DLS.”

As a high school student, Patrick was involved with the Student Council all four years, and captained the varsity lacrosse team. He took numerous Advanced Placement courses, was in the National Honor Society, and won the Lasallian Spirit Award at graduation.

Patrick met his wife Rebecca at a political fundraiser. She has a degree in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University and works in sales for an engineering firm. The couple lives in Macomb Township.

His twin brother, Anthony, attended the University of Notre Dame. A Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, he is currently serving at a base in Virginia.

In addition to his twin, Patrick’s younger brothers are also DLS alumni: Stephen (Class of 2010) and Nicholas (Class of 2018).

Patrick’s mother Liz is a registered nurse and has served on the Sterling Heights City Council for many years; Liz is the city’s Mayor Pro Tem.
