De La Salle Collegiate Athletics welcomes Casey Wila as a new associate athletic director.
He brings with him management experience from St. Lawrence Elementary School in Utica, where he previously served as the school’s first full-time athletic director from 2023-24.
"I'm extremely excited to join the De La Salle community to continue building upon this school's outstanding legacy and traditions,” said Wila, 30.
Baseball has played a large role in Wila’s life, as he also brings vast knowledge of the game and coaching experience, having served as the assistant/hitting coach from 2022-23 for the Traverse City Pit Spitters, a member of the largest summer collegiate baseball league. There, he led the Pit Spitters offense to record-breaking numbers in each of his two seasons.
Athletic Director Dan Rohn is extremely grateful to have him onboard. “I have known Casey for almost 20 years and I couldn't be more excited to add him to our DLS Family,” he said.
“His commitment, dedication, and passion to athletics and Catholic education will benefit our community, our school, and our athletic program that will only help us booster our programs and provide an even better experience for our De La Salle families,” Rohn added.
In addition, Wila was an assistant baseball coach at Eastern Michigan University, an NCAA Division 1 member, and at Aquinas College, where he directed the day-to-day operations of the program.
He is ready for the challenge, he said.
“We have an outstanding team here in the athletic department and I look forward to serving our coaches and our boys for years to come,” added Wila, who has a 2-month-old son, Jace, with his wife Madeleine. “Go, Pilots!”
