DLS Tennis Teams Help Out at St. Hyacinth

From Tennis Coaches Annmarie Michol and Ben Westphal:

DLS tennis teams had a busy weekend!

At the Day of Service on Sept. 27, the varsity and JV tennis teams volunteered at St. Hyacinth Parish where they cleaned the church, set up the school for their Banana Festival, and pulled weeds from their parking lot (which had not been tended to in years).

It was a rewarding experience for all. The next day on Saturday, the varsity team competed in the CHSL Tennis Tournament, which ended up being a 12-hour day due to inclement weather.

On Sunday, nine members of the varsity and JV tennis teams, along with their families, attended and participated in the 11:15 a.m. Mass at St. Hyacinth Church. Senior Thomas Simasko carried the crucifix during the processions, sophomore Anthony Adamo was a lector for the First Reading, and sophomores Matthew Wilkinson and Jack Simasko and junior Ender Straughen carried up the gifts.

Following Mass, the group enjoyed a great Polish meal at the Banana Festival. Thomas and J.J. Simasko volunteered in the ice cream booth, serving customers ice cream banana splits. Mrs. Simasko also volunteered at another booth.

The group of students consisted of Thomas Simasko, Jack Simasko, J.J. Simasko, Josh Opolski, Matthew Wilkinson, Ender Straughen, Chris Lanni, Anthony Adamo, and Mike Kosanke.

Several alumni who were in attendance at the liturgy came up to the boys to thank them for their services and contributions to the church. It was truly a rewarding moment to see.

These students represented DLS very well. They truly lived out the Lasallian values of what we instill in the students who attend our school. We are VERY proud of them.
