Four Pilots earn Catholic hoops honors

WARREN, Mich. — Four De La Salle Collegiate basketball players were recently honored by the Catholic High School League (CHSL) when it handed out league awards at halftime of the Cardinal and Bishop division championship games at the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Senior Josef Gjonaj earned his second-straight All-Catholic honors for the Pilots. He averaged 15.1 points per game, which included five games of 20+ points. He reached double figures in 14 games and led the team in scoring 10 times. Juniors Linden Holder (12.2 points per game, 13 games in double figures) and Will Smythe (10.3 points - season-high 28 against Brother Rice) earned all-league honors.

Senior Nick Troszak, who is averaging 8.4 points this season, was honored for his excellence in the classroom. He earned all-academic honors for De La Salle, which finished the regular season 13-7.
