WAREN, Mich. - The Pilots (7-1) got back on track in a major way Tuesday night at the Bill Fox Gymnasium. 

They took on and defeated the Farmington Falcons, 79-55, on the heels of a career-high, 20-point performance from sophomore big man Michael Sulaka. The game was never in question, as the Purple and Gold led from start to finish.

De La Salle Collegiate head coach Jon Djokaj labeled the night from Sulaka as "somewhat of a coming-out-party."

Sulaka served as the "headliner" of the Pilots' bounce-back win, also recording a team-leading eight rebounds. And Djokaj had nothing but praise for him after the game.

"From Mikey's standpoint, he's long, he's athletic, he's got great touch around the basket and is just starting to grow into himself and scratch the surface," Djokaj said.

Sulaka wasn't the only De La Salle player in double figures against the Falcons, either. 

Senior guard Linden Holder contributed 16 points, and junior guard Caleb Reese and sophomore guard Nino Smith each had 11 points.

Collectively, the Pilots demonstrated a skill Tuesday that Djokaj refers to as "bouncebackability."

"After that game (Saturday's 44-32 loss to Orchard Lake St. Mary's), we challenged our boys to find out a little bit about a skill that we call 'bouncebackability,'" Djokaj said. "And, I thought we had two really good practices leading into tonight. Tonight wasn't perfect. But, we showed that we can be really explosive in spurts. Now, we have to clean up some things and get ready for our big game on Thursday."

On Thursday, Djokaj's squad will travel to U-D Jesuit for a Catholic League Central division tilt with the Cubs (5-0). Game time is set for 7 p.m. 

Freshman basketball 
De La Salle 57, Farmington 53: Sal Taormina led the Pilots with 18 points, and Donny Hopp contributed nine points. Taormina also took home the team's "Hard Hat" for his standout performance on defense and in the hustle department. 

JV basketball 
DLS 72, Farmington 50: Sophomore Adam Broski led all Pilots scorers with 15 points, while fellow sophomore Brady Drogosh produced 12 points in the winning effort for the Purple and Gold. Additionally, freshmen Rhett Roeser and Nick Speiser each chipped in 10 points.
