Winter Sports Highlights 2022-2023
Highlights and upcoming Events:  
  • eSports:   
    • The Smash Ultimate program is looking to make a run at the state title this semester after making it to the State Quarterfinal. They are currently ranked top 10 in MI.
    • The Overwatch team started this season 3-0 and is currently in the Top 25 in all of the Eastern U.S.
    • In NBA2K, the Kas-Mikha brothers, Martino and Nolan, are off to strong starts this season after falling in the Quarterfinals last year.
    • In the first-ever Madden season, seniors Terrace Turner and Chauncy Shaw have both started 1-0.
  • Wrestling:  
    • Team made it to State Finals for the first time in DLS history. Tough first match up with CC. Gjon Nikollaj won his weight class against CC.
    • 7 Pilots advance to State finals Individual competition at Ford Field this weekend:
      • 113 Maxx Krug 
      • 150 Joey Montilla
      • 150 Nathan O’Donnell
      • 165 Mason Collins
      • 190 Vinny Lertola 
      • 215 Casey Beleshi 
      • 285 Gjon Nikollaj
  • Bowling:  
    • Drew Gohlke won Region #11 with a 6 game total of 1297. Drew advanced to State Singles Tournament.  
    • Team finished 5th in Regionals.

    • All Catholic / All-Academic = James Walter
    • All League = Andrew Nunnold
  • Basketball
    • District Game March 8 at Hamtramck. DLS will play winner of Warren Mott and Warren Woods Tower. Game at 7PM - tickets sold through GoFan.

    • All Academic = Jack Yanachik
    • All League = Nino Smith

  • Swim-Dive:  
    • DIVE: Derrick Braxton Jr. competes in Regionals March 2.
    • Swim competes in CHSL Championship this weekend at Waterford Kettering.
  • HOCKEY: Hockey wins Regional Championship game at Mt. Clemens Ice Arena. They advance to the Quarterfinal at SCS Civic Arena March 4.
