Academic Spotlight: Peter Wotta

Congratulations to senior Peter Wotta, headed to the University of Toledo, where he plans to major in engineering.

Peter was also accepted at Kettering University and the University of Dayton.

All three universities offered him scholarships, totaling over $330,000, but he has chosen  Toledo because of its co-op program.

Peter has a 3.75 Cumulative GPA, and has been part of the DLS Music program - he plays the trumpet.

As his senior year winds down, Peter is completing his Eagle Scout project at the Macomb Community College (MCC) Center Campus; he is replacing informational signs on the nature trail there. The signs were originally installed in 2004 as part of an Eagle Scout project, but have fallen into disrepair. Peter is working with the MCC Biology Department as the trail i(see photo below) s a Biology Study Lab. Peter made all new frames, and will add the new signs made by the MCC Biology and Graphic Arts Departments. He then will install the signs on the 4 x 4 posts later in May. Once he completes his paperwork, he will interview with the Eagle Board of Review.

Peter has been involved with Scouts since first grade, and meets with a troop at the Harper Woods Amvets building. He said that prior to COVID, the group had about 60 scouts but now numbers 25 - 30.

Peter attended St. Joan of Arc School in St. Clair Shores, and is the brother of Christopher Wotta, ‘07.

He lives in St. Clair Shores with his parents Brian and Kathryn Wotta.
