Alumni, Friends of DLS Contribute to Building Upgrades, Improvements

Many of the upgrades and improvements made on the campus of De La Salle Collegiate over the past year were made possible through the generous support of those who want to see the school continue to thrive.

A significant portion of the donated labor and materials came from friends of De La Salle and alumni, including Paul Brillati, ’90, of King Development; Bill Burkhardt, ’03, of Kanga Roof; Bolyard Lumber, Dale Studnicka of DAS Architects (sons Alexander Studnicka, '16 and Jack Studnicka, '19), John Sinishtaj of Natural Painting (son Julian Sinishtaj, ’27) and Nicholas Griesbeck, whose sons currently attend De La Salle..

Construction projects completed over the past year include the golf simulator, band room, wrestling room, a newly built garage, epoxied locker room floors, and a large conference room.

Brillati, whose three sons are also De La Salle alumni (Jonathan, ’16, Nicholas, ’19, and Anthony, ’25), played an instrumental role in several of these projects. “We did the demolition and improvements to the golf simulator and band room,” he said. “We also renovated the former science room into the new band room and converted the stage into the simulator space.”

Formerly housed at the BRAC, the golf program received a major boost with the installation of the TrackMan Golf Simulator, now located on campus in what was once the stage storage area.

“The TrackMan golf simulator has made an incredible difference for our players,” said Dennis Koch, ’94, head varsity golf coach. “It gives us a tremendous advantage by allowing us to practice year-round, use data to improve our skills, and build camaraderie within our team.”

Brillati said he never hesitates to help the school and is proud to leave his mark on the campus. “I will always help De La Salle,” he said, whether through donating work or covering the costs of labor and materials. “I truly owe my success in life, and my children’s success to the school and staff. It’s a family.”

Another major addition to campus is the new garage located on the south end of campus, which now stores much of the outdoor athletic equipment, including baseball, fencing, netting, and football gear.

Mitch Tomaszewski, ’06, served as the general contractor for the garage project, which took approximately four months from permits to completion.

“I enjoy watching the school grow,” Tomaszewski said. “Although it was a small project, I was honored to be given the opportunity to help the school with this effort.”

Grateful for his Lasallian education and the support of the Pilot Construction Association, Tomaszewski said he was proud to play a role in the continued development of De La Salle Collegiate.
