Alumnus Jeff Graus Joining Faculty, Instructor of Cybersecurity and Head of Campus Security

Alumnus Jeff Graus, Class of 1995, is joining the De La Salle Collegiate faculty for the 2025-2026 school year, teaching a new Cybersecurity class and Introduction to STEM, as well as overseeing the school’s security.

The Michigan State University Criminal Justice Major has been a City of Warren police officer since his college graduation. He has worked his way through the ranks and has been a detective for the past three years. Currently wrapping up “a few cases,” Graus is retiring and will immediately be stepping into his new role.

But Graus is no stranger to the DLS community. He has been the police department’s liaison with the school, leading faculty and staff in “active incident” training.

After graduating from college, he coached basketball for DLS for nearly ten years, and more recently, served as a baseball coach.

“I am excited to work with everyone,” Graus said. “De La Salle is a place I came to love, and I want to help the school continue to be safe and secure, while trying to help the students  have a great high school experience like I had.”

Dan Rohn, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of De La Salle, said, "In addition to leading our newly opened STEM Center as the teacher of Cybersecurity, Mr. Graus will also oversee campus security and continue to serve as a direct liaison to the City of Warren—helping to strengthen the connection between the school, the city, and the surrounding community.”

Rohn added, “His extensive experience in the field and direct collaboration with the Warren Police Department will be invaluable in enhancing our campus security, complemented by the installation of numerous cameras both inside and outside the building.”

“We are very excited to be adding Jeff to the DLS team,” said Principal Christopher Dean. “He brings a career's worth of knowledge and experience that will benefit not only the general school community, but students in the classroom as well. He will be teaching our Cybersecurity and Introduction to STEM courses. We could not be more pleased with our selection as DLS turns this new corner.”

Graus has spent most of his time in recent years working as the Senior Fraud Detective, with an emphasis on cyber/online crimes in the department. He says that the “online frauds and scams are nonstop, and affect everyone.”

His Introduction to Technology courses include not only teaching various computer skills but also examining how technology applies to different careers.

Graus is also well-versed in Artificial Intelligence - “AI” - and notes its continuous evolution. “AI can be a great resource for students," he said.

STEM Center Coordinator Scott Husken said Graus will be developing AI programs during the 2025-2026 school year, and that there will be a standalone class on AI and Cybersecurity for the 2026-2027 school year.

Graus’s son Camden attends DLS and is a junior this year.
