Annual Ziemba Math Competition Awards Thousands in Scholarships

De La Salle Collegiate extends sincere thanks to alumnus Roger Ziemba ’72 for his remarkable generosity in supporting young scholars through the Third Annual Roger Ziemba Math Scholarship Competition which took place at De La Salle on Monday, November 10, 2025, at DLS.

Through Roger’s vision and commitment, more students are inspired to challenge themselves and pursue excellence in mathematics, a true reflection of the Lasallian spirit of opportunity and achievement. Ziemba himself was present to congratulate the contest winners.

Principal Mr. Christopher Dean '89 said, "Roger’s commitment to the next generation of Pilots is truly inspiring. To witness him interact with all of the students who participated in the Math competition shows the true depth of his investment. This is primarily the reason why this event has grown over the last three years with no signs of slowing down. Roger’s active and visible presence shows all these future Pilots what is possible, and we are deeply grateful."

More than 100 students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade participated.

"The excitement that the future Pilots brought to the math competition was immediately apparent and filled the building with promise and positivity," said Dean.  "To host them and their families has been a highlight of our first semester thus far. We are hopeful that this small taste of the De La Salle 'Brotherhood' will encourage them and their families to learn more about our programs, peoples and possibilities."

The competition, with questions geared specifically for each grade level, consists of 30-35 questions, which are checked immediately after the competition ends.
