Anthony Bitonti Reflects on Leadership, Brotherhood, and His Next Chapter at Princeton

As his time at De La Salle Collegiate comes to a close, Student Council President Anthony Bitonti leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, service, and school spirit.

This fall, he will take the next step in his journey at Princeton University, where he plans to continue both his academic and football careers.

Bitonti’s senior year has been marked by a strong commitment to strengthening the student body experience. As Student Council President, he focused on two main goals: increasing school spirit and expanding opportunities to give back to the community.

“I was honored to be selected by my peers to represent our student body,” Bitonti said. “My two key focuses were on increasing school spirit at sporting events and giving back to the community at every opportunity we were given.”

Those efforts were evident throughout the year.

From a packed homecoming football game to a spirited basketball senior night and a strong showing at the soccer state championship, the De La Salle student section consistently showed up in support of their classmates.

At the same time, service initiatives—including dress-down day fundraisers and a successful cereal drive—demonstrated the class’s commitment to helping others.

“The brotherhood we share as a class made all of it possible,” Bitonti said. “Seeing everyone come together in those moments was something special.”

Outside of student government, Bitonti remained deeply involved across campus.

He served as Rector for Kairos 57, an experience he describes as one of the most impactful of his high school career.

“It was truly one of the most memorable experiences of my time here,” he said. “The retreatants, leaders, and adult leaders all grew in their faith and relationships with one another.”

He also competed in DECA during his senior year, advancing to the state level in the Business Finance Series event, and was a three-year member of the National Honor Society.

Academically, Bitonti excelled, earning Honor Roll honors all four years and maintaining a 4.219 GPA, along with numerous academic achievement awards. That GPA qualifies him to graduate summa cum laude - with highest honors.

On the field, Bitonti built an impressive football career. A legacy student—following in the footsteps of his father, Gene ’93, and uncle, Matthew ’96—he embraced the opportunity to represent De La Salle’s storied program.

Over four years, he earned All-Region, All-County, and All-East honors as both a junior and senior, served as team captain, and was named Team MVP in consecutive seasons. His senior year accolades also included recognition as Captain of the All-State Team and selections to both the Catholic and Macomb County Dream Teams.

“It was definitely what I was most excited to be a part of coming in,” Bitonti said. “I’m especially grateful for the bonds I made with teammates and coaches along the way.”

Beyond school, Bitonti demonstrated a strong commitment to service through his work with the Macomb Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit supporting families in need. Most recently, he organized a cereal drive that collected 300 boxes for local families—an effort that reflects his dedication to making a meaningful impact in the community.

Looking ahead, Bitonti is eager to begin his next chapter at Princeton. He describes the campus as “truly beautiful,” noting its historic architecture and world-class facilities. He plans to major in economics with a minor in finance, with aspirations of pursuing a career in investment banking—following in his father’s footsteps.

As he prepares to graduate, Bitonti offers this advice to those who will follow in his footsteps.

For future student leaders: “Be passionate about your role. Your classmates elected you because they trust you to represent them—take pride in that responsibility.”

And for incoming freshmen: “Take pride in everything you do. The little things—turning in your homework on time, showing up early, putting in your best effort—are what build toward bigger success. Those habits reflect who you are as a person.”

With a strong foundation built at De La Salle, Bitonti now looks ahead to new challenges and opportunities—ready to carry forward the lessons of leadership, faith, and brotherhood that defined his high school experience.
