Clearing Pilots for school days

WARREN, Mich. - De La Salle Collegiate is rolling out a new health-screening mobile app Clear To Go

Students will receive an email to set up a Clear To Go account. All teachers will have special training on how to monitor/check-in students in their first-hour classroom. A few selected staff members will also have special training on tracking staff members and/or students that fail the screening and require follow-up. Those staff members will be notified immediately if someone fails and can direct that individual through the follow-up protocols.

Here’s how it works:

  • An automated reminder email will be sent to all students and staff each school morning  (approximately 4 a.m.).
  • The screening will occur in one of these ways:
    • Clear To Go app which can be installed on Android and Apple phones
    • A link that is provided in the reminder email each day
  • Prior to entering the school, each person is required to answer the following three questions on the app:
    • Symptom check: do you have any of the following? a. Fever (over 100.4 taken today at home) b. Cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, etc.
    • Have you had close contact in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with COVID-19?
    • Have you been asked by a medical professional to self-quarantine?
  • Once ‘NO’ is answered to all three questions, a green Clear to Go badge will appear with date/time once screening is submitted.
  • In the event a ‘YES’ is answered to any of the questions, instructions will be displayed as to next steps. The person will not be permitted into the building if a green badge is not displayed.
  • When a staff member or student walks in the building, they will be asked to show their green badge noting they have completed the screening successfully.
  • Also, at the start of the first class of the day, teachers will be monitoring the data to ensure all students have been screened and are cleared. If they notice someone has not completed the screening, they will be asked to do so immediately prior to class beginning. If at that point, someone fails the screening, they will be sent down to the office immediately for dismissal and a parent will be called.

Note: If a student does not have a class period at the start of the day, or comes in late, they must go through the main doors (off Common Road)  and show the Welcome Desk they have completed the screening process. An administrator will be monitoring all students and staff members to ensure everyone in the building has completed the screening.

Notes: All visitors are required to take a health screening using this program. The Welcome Desk is equipped to submit on visitors’ behalf or to send an invitation to the app.

Besides the app, everyone entering De La Salle will also walk past an infrared scanner that takes digital temperature readings.
