De La Salle brings in executive administrator

WARREN, Mich. – During this challenging transitional time, the De La Salle Collegiate’s Board of Trustees has decided to bring in an executive administrator to work with and provide additional support to our leadership team. Brother Joseph Jozwiak, FSC will be returning to the school in this new role for the foreseeable future.

Brother Joe, an alumnus from the Class of 1965, has previously served as a guidance counselor, Theology teacher, vice principal, dean, principal, and president at De La Salle. He is currently serving as president of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York.

“Brother Joe will enhance our already strong leadership team not only with his prior knowledge of De La Salle, but also with his international experiences and leadership work in New York,” Board Chair Jack Brusewitz said. “Together with our current team composed of the board, teachers and staff we will continue to focus on and encourage each student to develop our Lasallian values: faith, character, intellect and morality.”

School officials emphasized their commitment to remaining student-centered in decision-making, implementing academic best practices and working toward continuous improvement. De La Salle strives to pursue excellence in all that it does—in academics, athletics, and the arts.

Brusewitz also noted that in the coming weeks, the board will begin a national search for a new president who is able to begin in August 2020. He noted that while the search process will be different due to the pandemic – using online surveys and other technology platforms – the board and search committee plan to gather community feedback to help shape the direction of the school going forward.

With the uncertainty that comes with a pandemic, De La Salle officials offered special thanks to the community for their continued commitment to the school. “As academic work shifts in the short term to distance learning with teachers and staff increasing their communication via telephone and video,” Brusewitz said, “we have really appreciated the cooperation and support that has been shown by our parents and students.”
