De La Salle Collegiate Earns Continued Accreditation from Cognia

De La Salle Collegiate has once again been recognized as an accredited institution by Cognia, the national organization that provides accreditation and continuous improvement services to schools worldwide.

The accreditation was reaffirmed following De La Salle’s recent Engagement Review, conducted in December 2025. This comprehensive process examined multiple aspects of the school’s mission, culture, and performance, including data analysis and synthesis, an executive summary of the institution, stakeholder surveys, and interviews with a wide range of constituents.

As Cognia emphasizes, accreditation is not a one-time achievement but a continuous improvement journey. Consistent with previous Engagement Reviews in 2015 and 2020, De La Salle maintained accreditation status with Cognia, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to excellence.

Among the highlights of the review, De La Salle met or exceeded expectations across numerous standards. Notably, the school received the highest possible marks in the standard measuring learner growth in academic performance based on valid and reliable assessments—an affirmation of the strength of De La Salle’s academic program and instructional practices.

While the review affirmed many areas of success, it also identified opportunities for continued growth. Feedback from Cognia will help guide future planning and improvement efforts, ensuring that De La Salle remains responsive, reflective, and forward-thinking in serving its students and families.

The successful accreditation outcome was made possible through the tremendous collaboration and support of school leadership, administration, faculty and staff, parents, and students. Their engagement throughout the process was critical in demonstrating the strength of the De La Salle community and its shared commitment to the school’s Lasallian mission.

De La Salle Collegiate remains proud of this recognition and energized by the opportunity to continue growing and improving in service to its students—today and into its next century.

“We are very grateful to Mike Shortt for his leadership and serving as the point person for this very important project," said DLS Principal Christopher Dean, '89. "This recognition from Cognia assures our academic quality and keeps us focused on maintaining high standards in our curriculum and student achievement. Mike’s attention to detail during this process, along with his love for De La Salle, was instrumental in making this happen."

"I would like to thank the amazing faculty, staff, and administration for their help in this process, especially those who served on the team with me," said Shortt. He also cited the contributions of other staff who assisted on the project: faculty member Kathleen Erickson and staff member Sr. Patricia Eeckhout, CDP.
