The Board of Trustees of De La Salle Collegiate High School (DLS), in collaboration with Br. Robert Schaefer, FSC, Provincial of the District of Eastern North America of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, announces that Br. Thomas Zoppo, FSC, current DLS President, will be called to a new ministry at the close of this academic year, effective June 30, 2025. We are deeply grateful to Br. Thomas for his leadership and contributions to DLS over the past academic year.
In addition, Br. Ken Kalinowski, FSC, ‘84, will complete his five-year term as Principal of De La Salle at the end of June. He has asked that he not be reappointed to the position. We are grateful to Br. Ken for his leadership during these past five years, and we are excited that he will continue to serve our students and community as one of our theology teachers.
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the school’s leadership team for the upcoming academic year:
Dan Rohn will become De La Salle’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Mr. Rohn will serve as the strategic and operational leader, responsible for the effective management of all non-academic functions of the school. As COO, he will ensure that all resources, infrastructure, and administrative systems, such as operations, finance, human resources, facilities, development, and technology, support the school’s mission while promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and faith-based stewardship.
Christopher Dean will become Interim Principal, serving as the academic and instructional leader of the school. He will be charged with maintaining the school’s Catholic and Lasallian educational mission. Mr. Dean, a 1989 De La Salle graduate, has served as Assistant Principal at De La Salle for more than 21 years and earned the prestigious Lasallian Educator Award in 2023.
Annmarie Michol has been appointed Vice Principal of Academics. Ms. Michol has taught at De La Salle for more than 26 years. As the Curriculum Coordinator for the past three years and the English Department Chairperson, she worked diligently to elevate the school’s academic programs and to develop the new STEM curriculum.
In other exciting news, we are thrilled to announce that our transformative Steve & Kathy McShane STEM Innovation Center is on track to open at the start of the 2025 fall semester. Our $10 million Capital Campaign is progressing well, with funds being allocated for the state-of-the-art technology and equipment necessary to support cutting-edge classes in fields like Medical Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Aeronautics, and Technology.
As we look forward to our 100th year, De La Salle Collegiate High School remains committed to its Lasallian mission of being “Builders of Boys. Makers of Men,” providing a high-quality, faith-based education that continues to serve the Metro Detroit area and beyond.
