De La Salle establishes online fundraiser

WARREN, Mich. – Following the national and state guidelines for the coronavirus pandemic, De La Salle Collegiate was forced to cancel three major fundraising events this spring.

The Pilots community has always stepped up in huge ways throughout the many challenges over the course of its 93-year history. Right now is one of those times!

De La Salle hopes to use this opportunity to engage even more people in its Lasallian mission to support students through the school’s first-ever online fundraiser and auction. The Bridge the Gap online fundraising campaign – which will be held June 8-12 – is a five-night celebration of students, teachers, alumni, and families!

This year’s fundraiser is virtual as the need for tuition assistance remains real for our students and their families.

The annual Christian Brothers Dinner, Christian Brothers Auxiliary’s Fashion Show, and the Christian Brothers Classic were canceled. Now, they are jointly moving online as Bridge the Gap. This event will be hosted via the school website and utilize OneCause online auction and peer-to-peer fundraising software to facilitate an incredible five nights. The De La Salle community, guests, and anyone with online access is invited to register for this fun and exciting event by clicking here.

Online bidding will open May 19. Each evening will include the following themes celebrating students, teachers, and Christian Brothers:

•    Virtual Christian Brothers Dinner
•    Virtual Christian Brothers Classic from Detroit Golf Club
•    Virtual CBA Fashion Show
•    A special tribute to the Class of 2020

Everyone is encouraged to join the Bridge the Gap campaign (each evening at 7:30 p.m.) digitally at home to support De La Salle and its students. Monday through Friday, a different emcee will provide many fun surprises throughout the evening. Guests who would have attended any of the in-person fundraising events is encouraged to invite friends and family to join online, as many are looking for fun ways to connect during this unique time. What a better way to bring people together than to give them something to be a part of for De La Salle!

Please accept our sincere appreciation of your understanding as we navigate through shifting plans and the evolution to create this online event this year. Your support is much needed for our students, teachers and school.

De La Salle Collegiate has proudly served the metro Detroit area for 93 years, and it is more determined than ever to continue building on its Lasallian mission.
