Congratulations to our De La Salle Collegiate DECA participants and award winners who competed in the District 7 Conference on January 7, 2023, at Lake Orion High School.  Approximately 900 students competed in the all-day event. 
 
DLS Business teacher Sandra Coccimiglio reported that DLS had 12 participants, resulting in nine awards and six winners moving on to the state competition March 9-1.

State Qualifiers include Christopher Azzi, Calvin Bacall, Derrick Braxton, George Gardey, Jack Madigan, and Michael Saad. 

Online test winners include Calvin Bacall, George Gardey, and Christian Talamantes.

Additional participants include Evan Cole, John Kajy, Nolan Kas-Mikha, Evan Kelley, Evan Lechner, and Ido Umana.
 
DECA is an international program with around 200,000 members and prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges. It is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable business knowledge, interact with peers, help resumes and school applications stand out, and offer opportunities to earn scholarships.
 
“Each and every participant worked hard studying for his category-specific test and practicing business scenarios after school with the group and with family/friends,” said Coccimiglio.
