DLS HOSA Team Heads to State Competition This Weekend

After the District competition earlier this year, 13 of the 19 De La Salle HOSA (Health Occupation Services Association) entrants qualified for this weekend’s state competition in Traverse City, MI.

The students and their categories include

  • Justin Cook, ‘27, Medical Spelling
  • Majd Ghareeba, ‘26, Creative Problem Solving **
  • Lance Garmo, ‘26, Nutrition
  • Jake Husken, ‘29, Clinical Specialty
  • Evan Kelley, ‘26, Public Service Announcement
  • Michael Kosanke, ‘26, Health Infomatics
  • Luke Lara, ‘27, Medical Innovation
  • Ben Nunnold, ‘26, Creative Problem Solving**
  • Matthew Robinson, ‘26, Public Service Announcement**
  • Misha Voronenko, ‘26, Epidemiology
  • ** denotes paired competition

In addition to the 13 students, Mrs. Mary Balamucki, HOSA Moderator, will also be a “participant,” serving as a Biotechnology judge. 

The 13 students is nearly double the number who qualified for state competition in 2025
