DLS HOSA Team Sending 13 to State Conference

The De La Salle Collegiate HOSA chapter delivered an exceptional performance at the HOSA – Future Health Professionals Region 4 Leadership Conference held on Saturday, January 31, with results that reflect months of dedication, preparation, and teamwork.

HOSA – Future Health Professionals is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that empowers students interested in healthcare careers to develop leadership skills, technical knowledge, and a commitment to service. Through competitive events, community outreach, and hands-on learning, HOSA prepares students to become compassionate, skilled leaders in the global health community.

Competing against top students from across the region, De La Salle had 13 of its 20 competitors qualify for the HOSA State Leadership Conference, an impressive achievement that highlights the strength of the school’s health sciences and STEM-focused programs.

Several Pilots earned first-place finishes in their respective events:

  • Jacob Anderson – 1st Place, Medical Terminology
  • Mike Azzi & Gabe Enghauser – 1st Place, Medical Innovation
  • Matthew Robinson & Evan Kelley – 1st Place, Public Service Announcement

Additional podium finishes and state qualifiers included:

  • Mike Kosanke – 2nd Place, Health Informatics
  • Justin Cook – Medical Spelling
  • Carter Atkins – Pathophysiology
  • Lance Garmi – Nutrition
  • Jake Husken – Clinical Specialty
  • Misha Voronenko – Epidemiology
  • Ender Straughen & Ben Nunnold – Creative Problem Solving

De La Salle was also proudly represented by Michael Daher, Luke Lara, Jack Simasko, Anthony Waldberg, Bill Gintner, Andrew Kaczma, and Oliver Russell, whose commitment and hard work contributed to a strong overall showing for the chapter.

HOSA events require countless hours of studying, research, and preparation, and the Pilots’ success is a testament to their discipline, teamwork, and passion for the health sciences.
