Former DLS Teacher Returning as Administrator
Mr. Brian Barker, a former Theology teacher and Campus Minister at De La Salle Collegiate from 2008-18, is returning to the school as an administrator with several responsibilities, including Executive Director of Admissions, Assistant Principal, and Director of Lasallian Formation and Campus Ministry.

"I'm thrilled to once again be a part of De La Salle's proud tradition, living out its mission as expressed in our long-standing motto, ‘Builders of Boys. Makers of Men,’” Barker said.

Mr. Dan Rohn, who takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer, said, “De La Salle Collegiate is delighted to welcome Brian back. He brings over 20 years of experience in Catholic education at both the secondary and elementary levels, as well as a deep commitment to our faith-centered mission.”

Barker said, "With a deep commitment to Catholic, Lasallian education, and a passion for touching the hearts and minds of all students, I'm eager to bring my experience and dedication to DLS.

“I look forward to working closely with the exceptional faculty and staff, as well as parents, to support our students in achieving academic, athletic, and extracurricular success ܋ all the while helping them grow in their faith," he added.

Interim Principal Mr. Christopher Dean, DLS '89, said, “I look forward to partnering with Brian Barker in his new role, where his leadership in Campus Ministry and dedication to Lasallian formation will enrich both our students’ and staff’s spiritual journeys.”

Barker added, "This is such an exciting time to be reuniting with De La Salle, especially with the incredible addition of the Steve & Kathy McShane STEM Innovation Center, which will be opening this coming school year. It's a wonderful opportunity not only for our current students, but also for generations to come.”

Most recently, Barker served as the Principal of Our Lady Star of the Sea Grade School (Grosse Pointe Woods), and was also an assistant principal for five years at St. Lawrence Grade School (Utica).

Prior to joining the De La Salle faculty, Barker taught at Divine Child High School (Dearborn) and St. Mary’s Preparatory (Orchard Lake).

Barker attended the Lasallian Buttimer Institute for three years during his previous time at De La Salle and has served in several other roles involving Lasallian education.

In addition, Barker visited St. John Baptist de La Salle Catholic School in Haiti in 2017.

He said, "It's truly great to be back! De La Salle is a special place, and I'm both honored and excited to return to a school community that feels like home.”

A graduate of Harper Woods Notre Dame High School, Barker played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He was a two-time All-American and was inducted into the college hockey Hall of Fame.

He earned a communications degree as an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Madonna University, and a Master’s Degree in Theology from Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
