Although Matthew Wilkinson is just a freshman, he has already impressed Mr. Talan Wall, the DLS Art teacher. 

“Matthew is incredibly talented, and has skills far beyond his years,” Wall said. 

Wilkinson is in the Introduction to Art class, and produced two drawings that are displayed in the Art showcase near the DLS Advancement Office. 

Both pieces are still-lifes of “Solo-Cups,” with one done in charcoal and the other in graphite pencil.

Wall said that Wilkinson took the Art class Talan offered during the summer of 2022 as part of the DLS Summer Camps program. 

Wilkinson has also taken classes at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit.
