Since 2018, the Cracchiolo-DeMars Endowed Scholarship has benefitted De La Salle Collegiate students.
In 2022, that tradition of awarding annual scholarships to deserving students continued with the presentation of financial assistance to senior Jamari Allen, senior Colin D’Hondt, and sophomore Nicholas Hall.
In September 2015, Gregory M. DeMars, ‘00, and his cousin Peter T. Cracchiolo, Jr., ‘03, along with Matthew Cracchiolo, ‘05, Andrew Cracchiolo, ‘07, Mark Cracchiolo, ‘10, and their extended families, established the scholarship in honor of their grandparents, Peter and Connie Cracchiolo, who valued education, particularly Catholic education. The elder Craccholo, who dropped out of school at age 13 to support his family, passed away in November 2015 at 98 years old.
“My cousins and I benefited from our De La Salle education,” DeMars said. “We wanted to establish this scholarship to honor our grandparents’ legacy by supporting others who also wanted to attend a Catholic school, particularly De La Salle.”
