Golf Simulator Added to BRAC

While the DLS golf team has enjoyed great success over the past several years, a new golf simulator should help students, and alumni, bring their skills to the next level.

The “Trackman” simulator, which Dennis Koch, Director of Alumni Relations describes as “very high end,”  is located at the Brother Robert Activity Center (BRAC).

Although the DLS golf team will be using the product, alumni and friends of the school will also be able to schedule times, form leagues, and even work with a golf pro, beginning in January 2022. All scheduling will be done through the BRAC website.

Koch is excited about the new machine, which enables golfers to evaluate their progress.

“This simulator seems so real,” Koch said. “You will feel like you are playing the actual course.  Our students and alumni will be able to hit balls like they are at the driving range or play a round like they are at Pebble Beach!”

Paul Brillati, DLS ‘90, generously donated labor and materials to prepare the former storage room. Brillati’s construction company, King Development, has also undertaken other projects for De La Salle over the years. Paul’s son Jonathan, '16, played golf at DLS and at the University of Detroit Mercy where he is now a graduate assistant. Paul also is the father of graduate Nick ‘19, and freshman Anthony, ‘25.

Joe Gerardi, ‘86, DLS Director of Operations, coordinated the site preparation, product purchase, construction, and installation. Gerardi said the rates will be less than those of other golf simulator sites in the area.
