Jerry Zaccardelli, '75, Featured Speaker at 1926 Society Breakfast

The Class of 2023 gathered at the Detroit Athletic Club in downtown Detroit on October 28, 2022, for the 5th Annual 1926 Society Breakfast.

The students met with numerous alumni, and heard from Jerry Zaccardelli, a Class of 1975 graduate, about the importance of giving back.

Zaccardelli encouraged the students to remain supportive of the school, and to give back to the next generation. Watch the video here.

DLS President Larry Rancilio, ‘86, said, “The 1926 Society Breakfast is one of the highlights of the school year. It is a great way to remind our Senior Class about the importance of giving back and making a difference.  It is so nice to have numerous alumni and benefactors join us in celebrating our Lasallian Brotherhood. Jerry Zaccardelli's speech was inspiring for all of us.”

Zaccardelli has served on the De La Salle Board of Trustees, including time on the finance committee and as the chair. He was the 2008 Christian Brothers’ Dinner Honoree.

He is the father of Dr. John Zaccardelli, ‘07, and Michael Zaccardelli, ‘05.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University (master’s in industrial labor relations), Zaccardelli, now retired, had a long and distinguished career in the banking industry and in sales, before changing careers and working in insurance.

Joining Zaccardelli at the breakfast were several of his Class of 1975 classmates, including
Dan Loepp, Dr. John Moore, Mark Rusch, Tom Ferenc, Joe Nagel, Dr. Fred Bartolomei, and Anthony Jubinski.

These alumni, and others in attendance, including Tony Mattar, ‘50, chatted with the seniors following Zaccardelli’s keynote address.

“All of the alumni present at the event showed the lasting bond held among Pilots, illustrating how much they cared for the De La Salle community, to still remain a part of the school,” said Mason Collins, president of the DLS Student Council. “The speaker effectively spoke on giving back once one has had success in life. He made it evident to my classmates and me to share one's wealth, so all may benefit.”
