Bill Burkhardt, ‘03, and his team at the Kanga Roof Company, are sponsoring the 3rd Annual “Kanga Classic” on Saturday, August 29, at the Cracklewood Golf Course in Macomb, MI. 

Proceeds from the golf outing are directed to De La Salle to create a perpetual endowed scholarship for children of fallen military personnel. Thus far, Burkhardt’s efforts have resulted in $150,000 raised for this scholarship. 

The fund is in memory of alumnus Evan Vaillancourt, ‘19, an Army Specialist, who tragically passed away while on active duty, leaving behind his wife and young son. 

“These children have already given up so much for the freedoms we enjoy every day,” Burkhardt said. “Let’s come together to ensure their futures are bright, full of opportunity, and supported by a community that remembers their parents’ sacrifices.” 

Vaillancourt’s mother, Andrea, served in the Armed Forces, and worked closely with Burkhardt at De La Salle when Burkhardt was the school’s Director of Admissions.
