The De La Salle Collegiate Campus Ministry Department has several projects and activities going on during this Lenten period, which began with the Ash Wednesday Mass and the giving of Ashes on March 5, 2025.
- Weekly Wednesday morning Masses in the DLS Chapel at 7:15 a.m., with Father Joe Gembala. While all are invited, each week various groups within the school gather as a team or club in worship together.
- March 19: Juniors in the National Honor Society
- March 26: Seniors in the National Honor Society
- April 2: Kairos 54 and 55 Attendees
- Stations of the Cross during Advisory B on Fridays are led by junior Glenn Acre. Glenn is working with Brother Lewis Harwood, FSC, preparing teen-centered reflections for each Station.
- Weekly Lenten Bible Study focused on the Sunday Gospel Readings, led by Brother Lewis and Theology teacher Mr. Matt McCroskery.
Sr. Kathleen Matz will be assisting Science teacher Mrs. Mary Balamucki with HOSA (Health Occupations for Students of America-Future Health Professionals) to provide a spiritual dimension at the Health Fair scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025. The fair will focus on physical, mental and spiritual health. Sr. Kathleen and HOSA students will sponsor prayer circles.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be provided at De La Salle on March 27 (throughout the day). The Confessors will be Monsignor Chuck Kosanke, Fr. Mark George, Fr. Julius Milton, and Fr. Kevin Roelant.
Beginning March 19, junior Anthony Bitonti, with the Student Council, will be leading the collection of hygiene products for homeless children and teenagers. The Macomb Children’s Foundation is sponsoring the effort to gather full-size hygiene products, such as shampoo, toothpaste, hand lotion, and more. That group will deliver the donated items to agencies dealing with the homeless and poverty-level children.
The drive runs through April 10.
