Marching Band Works Hard Despite Obstacles

While the fall marching band season has been short, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the De La Salle Collegiate Marching Band has worked hard to prepare its fall program “The Music of Kiss.”

The group performed on Sunday, Oct. 4, for the Christian Brothers Auxiliary Welcome event, as well as on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Wayne State University as the football team celebrated its senior members.

Program Director Dominic Aldini ‘12 has the Marching Band ready to “perform” at the Marching Band Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m., on the De La Salle football field.

In past years, the Band would be one of several high school groups performing live in front of judges, at an area host school, receiving a discord and ratings for their overall performance.

However, with COVID-19, on Tuesday evening the group will present its routine, which will be recorded, and sent to the judges for a grade.

“The kids have been working their tails off, despite the odds against them, and they have really come a long way,” Aldini said.
