Parent Newsletter, Issue 22

The Pilot Pride Parent Newsletter is produced for the parents and friends of De La Salle Collegiate. The news and notes are compiled by the school’s faculty and staff, and emailed each week during the school year.

THIS WEEK AT THE COLLEGIATE
COURSE REQUESTS: Online Course request time for current students is open now through this Friday. Students and parents should be discussing next year’s class recommendations with their teachers and counselors. We strongly recommend students and parents take every opportunity to learn about next year’s courses. Current and potential Advanced Placement students must pick up an AP Course Request Contract from the Counseling Office and meet with the AP teacher to discuss the course expectations. … A video to assist with course selections can be found HERE. The most-updated Curriculum Guide and a Course Selection sheet by grade-level document can be found HERE.

CANDY GRAMS: Student Council is selling Candy Grams for a $1 this week during Power Hour. The Candy grams can be sent to someone in the building or at Regina, and will be delivered this Thursday.

OTHER SCHOOL NEWS
TEEN STREET DRIVING SKILLS: Would you like your son to practice real-life driving situations that the driver’s education classes did not cover? Check out TeenStreetSkills.org for more information about a great program designed to offer your son more confidence behind the wheel.

ACT/SAT TESTS: Juniors and sophomores may soon take the ACT/SAT test, one of the most important components in their college application process. Students may take the ACT exam in February, April, June or July. They also have the option to take the SAT in March, May or June.

SENIOR PARENTS: Graduation tickets are available for pickup from Mrs. Michol in Room 216.
Each family receives eight tickets. Tickets are necessary for entrance into the ceremony. In addition, a senior mailing will be sent out, please look for it because it entails all of the senior events.

PLASTIC BAG COLLECTION: This year’s collection has ended and De La Salle is no longer accepting plastic bags. The SAVE Club apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Please consider taking your recyclable plastic bags to your local Kroger or Kohl’s stores to be properly recycled as they are not accepted in single-stream recycling at homes.

AMAZON SMILE: Sign up for an Amazon Smile account, and De La Salle Collegiate will receive a percentage of any purchases you make. When prompted to select a charity enter De La Salle Collegiate and select from the list that appears.
