The Pilot Pride Parent Newsletter is produced for the parents and friends of De La Salle Collegiate. The news and notes are compiled by the school’s faculty and staff, and emailed each week during the school year.

FINAL DAY OF SALE: To celebrate Presidents Day, the Pilot Hangar is having a sale! If you use FEBSALE at the online checkout today and today only, the Pilot Hangar will take 14% off each product you add to your cart, including clearance items. MUSICAL TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets are currently on sale for our 2020 spring musical, Nice Work If You Can Get It. Three performances will run Feb. 21-22. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased online or by contacting Mr. Kevin Fitzhenry at 586-541-6210.

THE RAFFLE: The annual Raffle starts Monday, March 2. Your sons will receive their tickets by this Wednesday during their Advisory class.
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS DINNER: The annual fundraising dinner will be held April 30 at Penna’s of Sterling. Tickets are now on sale to alumni, fathers, and prospective dads. There are no physical tickets this year. Purchase your tickets here.
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS CLASSIC: The annual golf outing, in honor of Ed Martel ‘87 will be held on June 22 at the Detroit Golf Club. Sign up your foursome today.
EXTRACURRICULAR NEWS
PARENT ATHLETIC MEETINGS: The following spring sports will host informational parent meetings in the next five weeks. Track (Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.); Golf (Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.); Baseball
(March 5 at 6 p.m.); and Lacrosse (March 5 at 7 p.m.). Each of these meetings will be held in the Tarmac.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
PACZKI DAY: The day before Ash Wednesday is celebrated with traditional Polish donuts from Srodek’s in Hamtramck. This is a fundraiser for the De La Salle Blackfeet School in Montana. Their school was damaged by fire last month. The paczki are $2.50 each; $25 dozen.
IMMERSION TRIP: The Alternative Spring Break trip is April 13-18. We will be serving again this year at Nazareth Farm in Salem, W.V. It’s open to all students 16 years or older. Last year’s trip was amazing: meeting locals, living simply, working hard, and making connections with students around the country. Please see Ms. Ragona for details.
MCREST: For the second straight year, De La Salle will be part of Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST). The dates are June 7-13. Please mark your calendars and plan to donate a few hours to help the temporarily homeless in our community.
MACOMB FEEDING THE NEED: Service opportunities at MFN are currently filled for March. There are still two openings for April 6. Sign up in Campus Ministry.
RAINBOW ELEMENTARY: Mentorship opportunities at Rainbow Elementary are filled through March 26. Please see Ms. Ragona for details on this on-going service with second and third graders.
BLOOD DRIVE: There is a Red Cross Blood in the gym on March 19. Sixteen-year students may donate with a parental waiver. Look for further info on scheduling your appointment. Many thanks to junior Anthony Elias for organizing the blood drive as part of his IB requirements.
YOUNG LASALLIAN YOUTH ASSEMBLY: New York City, July 19-24. All seats are filled, but there is a waiting list.
PARENT GROUP NEWS
CBA/MOMS CLUB: The CBA Spring Fantasy 2020 Fashion Show is March 18 at Penna’s of Sterling. Invitation and Fashion Show grand raffle tickets should be in your mailbox. Reservations are $70 and available online at The Pilot Hangar. … The next general meeting is March 5.
DADS CLUB: Thank you to all the dads who made it out to the last meeting. Even though the numbers were small, it was a nice evening of fellowship. A special thank you to Jo Marie Ragona for coming out and speaking to the group about Campus Ministry and all the events and support they offer our sons. … Volunteers for the last home varsity basketball game this Tuesday against Sterling Heights Stevenson are needed. If you’re available to help, please show up Tuesday and look for volunteer coordinator Uly Hernandez. … The last meeting of the year will be the Thank You Dinner held in May. An email reminder will be sent out prior to the meeting.
