The Pilot Pride Parent Newsletter is produced for the parents and friends of De La Salle Collegiate. The news and notes are compiled by the school’s faculty and staff and emailed each week during the school year.

PILOTS IN THE NEWS
COMING TO LIFE: De La Salle Collegiate’s robotics team, the AutoPilots, had to overcome a few setbacks during the Michigan districts at the FIRST Robotics Competition at Macomb Community College. THIS WEEK AT THE COLLEGIATE
HEALTH AND WELL-BEING: With warmer weather just around the corner, we want to encourage everyone to continue to keep in mind to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, and wash your hands frequently to keep everyone healthy. If your son has a fever or cold-like symptoms please keep him home for extra rest to get better sooner.

OTHER SCHOOL NEWS
PROM TICKETS: This year’s prom is May 9 on the Infinity & Ovation Yacht Charters, located at Jefferson Marina is 24400 Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. There are two ships that sail. Boarding is at 6:30 p.m.; sailing with dinner and dancing is from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Please arrive with the couples that you want to sail with. The cost is $185 per couple. No refunds. Tickets go on sale March 17 through April 3 and can be purchased through the Business Office.

BLOOD DRIVE: The American Red Cross is hosting a Blood Drive in the Bill Fox Gymnasium on March 19. Look for further information on scheduling an appointment. Many thanks to junior Anthony Elias for organizing the blood drive as part of his International Baccalaureate requirements. Students that are 16 years old may donate with a parental waiver.

SHINOLA WATCHES: De La Salle Collegiate is one of the first high schools in America to partner with Shinola. Shinola watches are a great gift for graduation, Father’s Day, birthdays, and more. Visit The Pilot Hangar to place an order now through March 31. 

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS DINNER: The 39th annual fundraising dinner honoring Mr. Gary Buslepp will be held April 30 at Penna’s of Sterling. Tickets are now on sale to alumni, fathers, and prospective dads. Tickets are now available online only

SENIOR ALL-NIGHT PARTY: Looking for those interested in helping out with the Senior All-Night Party by donating gift cards that will be raffled off to seniors at the party. Also, if you would like to be a volunteer at the Senior All-Night Party, please contact Mrs. Page. Click here to sign up to donate treats and/or decorations.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS CLASSIC: The second annual Christian Brothers Classic golf outing, in honor of Ed Martel ’87 will be held on June 22 at the historic Detroit Golf Club.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
SERVICE EVENTS: There are many service opportunities scheduled from now through May. Students should visit the Campus Ministry Office to sign up. 

IMMERSION TRIP: The Alternative Spring Break trip is April 13-18. Students will be serving again this year at Nazareth Farm in Salem, W.V. It’s open to students 16 years or older. Meet locals, live simply and make connections with students around the country. Please see Ms. Ragona for details.

MCREST: For the second year, De La Salle will be part of Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST). The dates are June 7-13. Please mark your calendars and plan to donate a few hours to help the temporarily homeless in our community. Clubs, groups and teams will be tapped to help out, and individuals are always welcome.               

PARENT GROUP NEWS
CBA/MOMS CLUB: This Wednesday is the student and faculty appreciation pizza lunch during Power Hour. The CBA loves our boys -- and our teachers! … The CBA Fashion Show is March 18. Please turn in your pink grand raffle tickets, you received in the mail, before March 16. Raffle prize donations can still be turned into the school office this week. The next CBA meeting is April 2 at 7 p.m.

DADS CLUB: The dads have been asked to support the CBA Fashion Show, which is March 18 at 6 p.m. at Penna's of Sterling. Specifically, dads are asked to sell raffle tickets, as well as other needs as they arise the evening of the show. To volunteer, please use this SignUpGenius. … The next meeting is the annual Thank Your Dinner scheduled for May 29 at 7 p.m. at the school. Dads, please click to RSVP so an accurate headcount can be taken for food and drink. We have not been getting good responses and have had to over-estimate. Leftover food ends is donated to a local shelter, so a better headcount is appreciated.
