Parent Newsletter, Issue 3

The Pilot Pride Parent Newsletter is produced for the parents and friends of De La Salle Collegiate. The news and notes are compiled by the school’s faculty and staff, and emailed each week during the school year.

THIS WEEK AT THE COLLEGIATE
FRESHMEN GRANDPARENTS DAY: The annual Freshmen Grandparents Day Luncheon is next month, but RSVPs are due this Friday … Grandparents Day is designed to help welcome and introduce grandparents to the De La Salle community. Grandparents are invited to have a late lunch with their grandsons in the Bill Fox Gymnasium and an optional tour of the school. This year’s event is Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. … Please click on the link to register your son’s grandparents for this event … All questions can be directed to the Advancement Office at 586-778-3356 or email Linda Fraschetti.

WIG AND MASK SOCIETY: Auditions for the WAMS fall production of CLUE: On Stage will take place today and Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on stage in the De La Salle cafeteria. HOMECOMING & SPIRIT WEEK
HOMECOMING TICKETS: Deadline to purchase tickets ($80/couple) to this year’s Homecoming Dance is this Friday at 2 p.m. There are no exceptions. Payment options include cash, check (made out to De La Salle Collegiate) or through the Facts Tuition Account. There is a form that is to be filled out and returned to the Business Office with payment.

CHARIOT TAX: All students are asked to pay $2 to the Business Office for Spirit Week activities. Please turn your money in no later than today. There is a slip that needs to be turned in with the student’s name, grade, and Advisory on it. The slips will be distributed in home rooms and there will be some available in the Business Office.

HOMECOMING VENUE: This year’s Homecoming will take place at Petruzzello's Banquet Hall (6950 Rochester Rd. Troy) on Sunday, Oct. 6. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. Dinner is at 6:10 p.m. with the dance ending at 10 p.m.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
RECEIVING SACRAMENTS: Are you interested in your son receiving any of the sacraments? Please have him see his Theology teacher or the Campus Ministry office to sign up.

CLOTHING DRIVE The Catholic High School League is sponsoring a competitive clothing drive between Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese. A storage container will be parked at De La Salle on Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 for your donations of clothes

PARENT GROUP NEWS
CBA/MOMS CLUB: The CBA would like to thank everyone who attended our annual Welcome Tea, especially our freshman moms. Also, a very big thank you to our volunteers who made the event a success. The next event is the general meeting and rosary on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the school chapel. All are welcome. The rosary is followed by our informational meeting, and then dinner and drinks in the cafeteria … The CBA Holiday Arts & Crafts Show is Nov 22-23. Tickets for the Sip & Shop are on sale now through the Pilot Hangar. Tickets are presale only. The Holiday Arts & Crafts Show is open to the public on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  ... Special dates to remember: Oct. 25 is the deadline for pierogi, wreath, and pie orders. Cookie Walk donations will be accepted Nov. 20-21. 

DADS CLUB: Thank you to everyone who volunteered over the past two football games at Wayne State University. Your time and dedication is appreciated … The first general meeting is this Wednesday in the school cafeteria at 7 p.m. Dinner and drinks will be served. All are welcomed for an evening of fellowship to discuss plans for the new school year … Still looking for a dad to fill the vacant Treasurer position. Responsibilities include keeping account of funds, managing any and all transactions during the year, and communicating with the school regarding finances when necessary. Attendance at all general meetings, as well as Board meetings, are required … Follow the Dads Club on Facebook for news and events.
