The Pilot Pride Parent Newsletter is produced for the parents and friends of De La Salle Collegiate. The news and notes are compiled by the school’s faculty and staff, and emailed each week during the school year.

THIS WEEK AT THE COLLEGIATE
MINI-CLASS NIGHT: Hey Parents, this Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. is your opportunity to meet your son’s teachers early in the year. Please join us for a night to get to know each other a little better, and follow your son’s daily class schedule.


OTHER SCHOOL NEWS
FRESHMEN GRANDPARENTS DAY: Congratulations! Your son is one week into his freshman year at De La Salle Collegiate! During this semester, we host one of our big family events: the annual Freshmen Grandparents Day Luncheon. Grandparents’ Day is designed to help welcome and introduce grandparents to the De La Salle community. Grandparents are invited to have a late lunch with their grandsons in the Bill Fox Gymnasium and an optional tour of the school. This year’s event is Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. … Please click on the link to register your son’s grandparents for this event. Once you register your son’s grandparents, we will send invitations to them with a map, directions, and parking instructions. We also track their RSVPs. Submissions are due by Sept. 20. Late submissions may not be processed. … All students participating in Freshmen Grandparents’ Day must wear their official De La Salle Collegiate liturgy shirt and tie on October 23. PHYSICAL FORMS: All students (whether they play a sport or not) must have a fully-completed, current physical form on file dated after April 15, 2019 on file. Physicals are due by June 30 of the upcoming school year. Physicals must be fully completed on the MHSAA Physical form. All sections must be filled in and signed.

INFINITE CAMPUS TIPS (Food Service): When adding money to your son’s account online, please make sure you are on a PC and using a Google Chrome web browser … There is a flat rate service fee of 3.25% added to the lunch account when using a credit card, debit card, or a checking account. There is a $5 minimum. Your son can also bring cash or check to the cashier and it can be added directly to the account for no fee. They do not accept credit or debit cards at the register … Food Low Balance text alert message will automatically be sent to the parents when the balance reaches $5 or below … When logged in as a parent, you can see exactly what your son has purchased through the food line.

EXTRACURRICULAR NEWS
WIG AND MASK SOCIETY: Auditions for the WAMS fall production of CLUE: On Stage will take place on Monday, Sept. 16 and Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on stage in the De La Salle cafeteria. Reach out to WAMS Executive Director Kevin Fitzhenry ‘03. … There will be a viewing of Clue The Movie on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the WAMS Center in anticipation of auditions the following week. SPORTSMEN’S CLUB: Students who are interested in the outdoors and in safety training for our Sportsmen's Club Clay Target Program are invited to attend the Michigan DNR Hunter Education Class held at the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress. The course will be taught this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15, and is taught by tate-certified Hunter Education Instructors. Cost for the course is $10 and CLICK HERE to register. PARENT GROUP NEWS
CBA/MOMS CLUB: The October general meeting & rosary is Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the school chapel. All are welcome to join us. The rosary is followed by our informational meeting, and then dinner and drinks in the cafeteria. 

DADS CLUB: The next home football game that need Dads Club support is this Friday vs. Detroit Old Redford Academy at Wayne State’s Tom Adams Field. If you are a new freshman dad, or have helped in previous years and want to help with security, parking lot, or 50/50 raffle, please plan on arriving to the parking lot around 5:30 p.m. Your help is greatly appreciated … The first general meeting of the year is Sept. 18 in the school cafeteria from 7-9 p.m. Dinner and drinks will be served. All are welcomed as plans for the new school year in support of De La Salle and the boys is discussed. The Dads Club is also looking for a dad to fill the vacant Treasurer position.
