Reid, Olejniczak, Grauzer earn December honors

WARREN, Mich. – Each month, faculty and staff are asked by the Student Council at De La Salle Collegiate to recognize a student, teacher and staffer as valued members of the Lasallian community.
These individuals demonstrate leadership, achievement, service or general involvement in and around the school. Students can also be recognized for improved progress in the classroom. Faculty and staff members nominate the monthly winners by submitting written recommendations to Student Council moderator Annmarie Michol.

The December Student, Teacher and Staffer of the Month are: counselor Dominic Reid, junior Eddie Olejniczak, and social studies teacher Andrew Grauzer.

We truly appreciate their incredible dedication and care for making a difference each day!

Each was nominated by faculty, staff or administration. Here is what their nominators said about them.

STAFF
Dominic Reid, counselor, track and cross-country coach

Headshot of Dominic Reid

“Dominic is loved by everyone and works very hard to assist students with advice and handling academic, athletic and personal problems. He is involved in my areas of De La Salle, which is impressive because he is also a great husband and dad.”

“Dominic is always lending a helping hand and always has the best interests of the students.”

“He is a wonderful colleague. Any time I need his assistance with a student he is there willing to assist. He represents the mission of our school and we are very lucky to have him in our building.”

STUDENT
Eddie Olejniczak, junior

“I'm sure that I could write a lot more about him if I had known him longer, but in the short time that I have known him, I have been very impressed by him, personally, as well as the activities in which he is involved.

“In addition to the Sportsmen's Club, Eddie is a bowler and golfer. He is in the International Baccalaureate program and has gone to Montana to work with our Christian Brothers school there. More importantly, he is a good teammate to the others on the team and is personable and outgoing to everyone I see him with. Last month, he was having his younger brother, Joey, shadow him, and Eddie was handling that magnificently. He interacts with both his peers and his elders very comfortably. I would consider him a "poster boy" for De La Salle Collegiate.

“As a member of the JV golf team he was a leader and a perfect example of not only what the De La Salle golf team represents, but a perfect representation of a De La Salle student-athlete.”

TEACHER
Andrew Grauzer, social studies teacher

Headshot of Andrew Grauzer

“He currently has three classes of 32 students, one of 36, and a senior government class. One of the hardest schedules I've seen and he is doing terrific.”

“Mr. Grauzer should be recognized for his continual dedication to De La Salle. He gets to know his students outside the classroom and it shows when he is on the court coaching.”

“Mr. Grauzer is always willing to be a team player and is a very well-rounded teacher.”
