Congratulations to Shirley Renze, selected as Staff Member of the Year by her peers. 

Renze has worked at De La Salle since April 2003. 

She enjoys working at DLS and has formed great relationships with other employees. 

“I really like the school motto - Builders of Boys, Makers of Men. I really believe in that and what DLS does for the students,” she said. 

Shirley is a big Detroit Tigers fan, and also enjoys reading and swimming. She and her husband also camp a lot and have traveled all over Michigan. 

She and her husband Nick, who is retired, live in Fraser. They have two children, and are the grandparents of an eight-year-old boy “who we adore.” Shirley hopes her grandson will be at De La Salle in the future. 

Director of Operations Joe Gerardi, ‘86, praised Renze.

“We all appreciate Shirley's work ethic,” Gerardi said. “Particularly when we were in the strictest of Covid protocols, she went to great lengths to ensure that all surfaces in the school building were properly sanitized. For those of us who work closely with her, we also appreciate her sense of humor and her ability to tell it like it is.”
