Senior Gabe Enghauser advances on his journey to go to Mars one day

For senior Gabe Enghauser, summer 2025 included participation in two renowned “space camps,” first at Rice University in Houston, TX, and then at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Gabe described his eight-day, invitation-only, experience in Huntsville this way:
“SpaceCamp, much like the Rice University Aerospace Academy, was a glimpse into my future. My future, where I build rockets, conduct medical, geological, and astrophysical research, build life-support systems for spacecrafts as well as the spacesuits themselves, and pilot the spacecraft that I help build. I want to do everything there is to space. Being an astronaut allows me to specialize in anything and everything. My future lies beyond the limitations of Earth’s atmosphere. My future belongs in space. My future is space.”
