Academic Spotlight: Senior Ryan Regis Heading to Pepperdine

Congratulations to Ryan Regis, accepted to Pepperdine University, in California,  where he has been offered a $40,000 per year scholarship.

Although he received a much larger offer from the University of Alabama, Ryan has chosen to attend Pepperdine because of its location, and more importantly, the opportunity to major in Finance and the networking opportunities.

Ryan has already had some experience with college business classes, as a dual enrollment student at the University of Detroit, where he took Introduction to Business, and Organizational Design and Theory.

He was also enrolled in the De La Salle International Baccalaure Program and took the IB Business class.

At DLS, he has been enrolled in a variety of Advanced Placement (AP classes), including Psychology, Computer Science, U.S. History, and Government.

Ryan carries a 3.7 cumulative GPA.

He has been involved in the National Honor Society, as well as the SAVE Club (Students Against Vandalizing the Environment). Ryan has also participated in powerlifting and in track and field.

He cites faculty member John Berlin as his favorite teacher, noting Berlin’s assistance with the college application process. More importantly, Ryan said, “Mr. Berlin really cares.”

Ryan attended St. Peter Lutheran in Macomb Township, and attended De La Salle at the urging of his father, John Regis.

“Originally, I wasn’t happy with the prospect of DLS, but as time has gone on, I really appreciate what DLS has done for me, and the friendships I have made.”

Ryan lives in Clinton Township; his parents are John Regis and Lisa Regis.
