Senior Spotlight: Chris Lanni

When senior Chris Lanni was in grade school at St. Lawrence (Utica), he knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his cousins, Giancarlo Brugnoni, ‘09, and Dominic Brugnoni, ‘11.

Chris has been a very involved student at De La Salle since his freshman year, and is even taking on another challenge this year.

He plans to participate in the DLS Law Club’s Mock Trial competition; in the spring of 2025, the DLS team made it to the state competition. Chris, who plans to major in either political science or international business, intends to pursue a post college law degree.

Chris also holds several leadership positions at DLS. He has served as President of the school’s  World Cultures Club both junior and now senior year, is Vice President of the National Honor Society, has been a Kairos leader, and was one of the tennis team captains this year.

He has taken several Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and this year is taking AP Psychology.

Chris is on track to graduate magna cum laude in May 2026.

Chris advises freshmen: “Find your friends and stay with them. Pick your friends wisely and stay with the good ones you can trust. Have a good time and enjoy it because it flies by.”

Mrs. Kathleen Erickson says, “Chris is personable and authentically himself in all situations.  He has a great ability to make people laugh and finds humor in many situations.”

Chris says some of his favorite memories of De La Salle include Kairos, tennis, the freshman ski trip, and hanging out with friends in Mr. (Ben) Westphal’s room.

Westphal said, “Chris is a strong, Lasallian leader, who is serious about his faith and academics. No matter the given day, he always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Over the years, Chris has truly matured into a servant leader who wants to impact each individual he encounters. Whether on the tennis courts, or in the classroom, he is a role model and a positive influence. I am excited to see what his next chapter will bring!”

Mrs. Annmarie Michol, Vice Principal of Academics and the Varsity Tennis Coach also has high praise for Chris.

“This student has been deeply involved in our school community and consistently leads by example,” Michol said. “Over the years, I have watched him grow into a confident, thoughtful leader who supports others, takes the initiative, and lives out our school’s values in meaningful ways. His commitment, maturity, and willingness to serve make a lasting impact on those around him, and I am proud of the young man he continues to become.”

Chris lives in Washington Township with his parents Dennis and Yvette Lanni.
