Senior Spotlight: Dominic Bueti

Dominic Bueti is one of the most engaged members of the Class of 2024, with a wide variety of activities.

Faculty member Mr. Ben Westphal says, “Dom is constantly involved at De La Salle and is making every minute as a Pilot count.”

He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, and the Link Crew.

His favorite class at De La Salle was his junior year Honors Pre-Calculus class with Mr. Joe Novak.

“I really enjoyed his class,” Dominic said. “He knows how to connect with students. He is a great teacher.”

Dominic is currently taking Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics and has earned AP credits in U.S. History, Microeconomics, and Environmental Science. He will be graduating Magna Cum Laude.

He played varsity tennis for DLS the last two years, after playing soccer his freshman and sophomore years, and participates in the Ski and Snowboard Club.

Additionally, he is on an IM Basketball team, and plays in the “Cornhole” tournaments.

Dominic took the DLS Banking class and worked last summer at a branch of the Christian Financial Credit Union.

He also has a job at the Villa Nova Restaurant, on Jefferson in St. Clair Shores. He started as a bus boy but has worked his way up to being the sous chef, and even a line chef.

Westphal says, “Dom is a fantastic leader who constantly serves our community. He leads by example through his work on service and his mentorship. His future is bright, and he will be making a difference in the lives of so many.”

Dominic says his favorite memory of high school is the Fall 2023 Kairos Retreat.

He plans to attend Michigan State University, and major in some aspect of business.

“I have always wanted to do something in business,” Dominic said. “It sounds like a degree I would enjoy.”

Faculty member Mr. John Berlin taught Dominic each of the last two years.

“Dominic represents the very best of De La Salle,” Berlin says. “He exudes hard work: in the classroom, on the tennis court, at his job. He is kind, respectful, industrious, and quick to interact whether it be in the classroom or in service. If help is needed, he is the very first to volunteer. He has ‘the joy factor.’ He has a perpetual zest for doing the right thing.”

Dominic advises freshmen “to join activities.” He adds, “Stay active in school and be involved. You will meet long-term friends. I have a group of friends I cherish.”

He chose to attend DLS, following in his older brother’s footsteps; Christian Bueti graduated in 2022.

Dominic also has a younger brother who is currently at the family parish grade school, St. Joan of Arc. That brother will be a freshman in the Fall of 2024. Dominic’s family lives in St. Clair Shores; his parents are Vince and Kristie.
