As he finished eighth grade at St. Joan of Arc Grade School in St. Clair Shores, senior Jason "JJ" Jurczyk, Jr.  had an easy decision to make when it came to choosing a high school. 

Not only is his father, Jason Jurczyk an alumnus of De La Salle Collegiate, Class of 1996. 

Other family members include

• JJ’s grandfather Raymond Jurczyk, Class of 1960.
• JJ’s uncle  Kevin, Class of 1999.
• JJ’s aunt is married to Paul Wilk, Sr., Class of 1985. 
• JJ’s cousins Paul Wilk Jr., Class of 2012, and Joshua Wilk, Class of 2016.

JJ is graduating cum laude and plans to major in business at Madonna College (Livonia, MI) where he will play baseball. 

JJ has played baseball for the last four years and is both a pitcher and an outfielder. 

A midfielder, he also captained the varsity soccer team and was part of the school’s 2024 state championship team, the sixth in school history, in Division 2

JJ cites winning that state championship and hanging out with his friends over the years as his best memories of DLS. 

He advises freshmen to “enjoy the moment.”

JJ has regularly attended the DLS Mass Mobs at various area parishes over the last year. He usually attends Mass with his parents, Jason and LeeAnn, but also likes to go to Mass with his friends. 

Mr. Ben Westphal, DLS Class of 2016, has high praise for JJ. 

“JJ is an outstanding leader who embraces all Lasallian values. He is committed to pushing those around him, while also being a mentor for them. As a soccer captain/state champion and baseball all-star, he has helped mold underclassmen into leaders both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, JJ has been extremely involved in his faith. He has been an active attendant for the De La Salle Mass Mob events. Additionally, he was a student leader for the Sophomore Retreat. JJ is a Lasallian man who leads by example. He is the true definition of a De La Salle Pilot.”
