Senior John Kajy has a heavy academic schedule this year, but also has involvement in numerous activities - all while maintaining a GPA that ranks him in the Class of 2025 Top Ten.
John has revived the Debate and Forensics Club, along with senior Chris Azzi, and is also involved with the National Honor Society, the Stock Market Club, the World Cultures Club, DECA, the Medical Club, Mock Trial Team, SAVE, and Esports - where he is a captain of the NBA2K team.
While that may seem like a lot of extra-curricular activities. John has managed to balance a heavy academic schedule with success in those areas.
He was a DECA state participant in 2024, while taking Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition and AP Government.
His senior year schedule also has four AP classes: Statistics, English Literature and Composition, Psychology, and Microeconomics. John is also taking the Entrepreneurship class along with the two semesters of Theology: Church History and World Religions.
John is considering a variety of careers - accountant, business owner, and he adds billionaire.
For now, he is considering majoring in Business Administration and Management and applying to the University of Notre Dame, the University of Michigan, and Northwestern.
Social Studies teacher Mr. Thaier Mukhtar said, “John is a bright young man who has a lot of common sense and will do well in all aspects of life. He was a contributing member to my Honors American History and my AP Government courses. John is very articulate in his views on society. I have no doubt he will be very successful in whatever university he chooses to attend.”
He attended St. Anne Catholic Grade School (Warren), and chose to follow in his older brother Julian’s footsteps (2023 DLS graduate) and continue his Catholic education.
John advises freshmen, “Don’t take the time you have right now for granted. Time will slip by before you know it.”
He lives in Sterling Heights with his parents Rany and Lina. The family attends Holy Martyrs Chaldean Church in Sterling Heights.
