Noah Dudus grew up knowing he would become a Pilot.
Although he attended St. Joan of Arc in St. Clair Shores, his choice of De La Salle was inevitable.
Noah’s father Dave has been a faculty member at De La Salle for several years.
Although Noah has been accepted at several universities, including Michigan State University, he said Oakland University is where he is most likely to go.
He grew up fishing and hunting with his father, grandfather, and cousins, and has a “great love for the outdoors.”
That love for the outdoors has influenced Noah to pursue a major in Environmental Engineering. He has a strong interest in conservation and sustainability.
Noah played football his first three years, and decided to give up football his senior year in order to concentrate on his studies. However, he did help coach football at St. Joan in the Fall of 2024.
He is on track to graduate magna cum laude.
Noah’s senior schedule includes three Advanced Placement (AP) courses, including AP English Literature and Composition, AP Human Geography, and AP Psychology. As a junior, he took AP American Government and AP English Language and Composition.
His schedule has also included Studio Art and a Personal Finance class.
Faculty member Mr. John Berlin says, “When I think of Noah, the first thing that comes to me is his prioritizing of his studies above all else! Who even though an exceptional football player knew that to commit to the sport would require time, a lot of time. And time as we know is finite in a day or a week or a season, and he knew that in order to get the very best grades would be difficult if he continued in football.”
Noah’s advice for freshmen is simply “Stay organized. The more you are organized, the less you will stress, and the better your grades will be.”
He has been active with the DLS Campus Ministry program, and attended Kairos 53 as a retreatant and was most recently a Kairos 55 leader. Noah considers those experiences as his best memories of DLS.
He is also a Bible Study Club Leader and a Link Crew Leader.
DLS Faculty Member and Kairos Director Mr. Ben Westphal, DLS ‘16, said, “Noah is a fantastic leader who truly represents the Lasallian values, and his leadership truly impacted his fellow classmates.
Mr. Westphal added, “Noah is a true mentor to everyone he meets, such as being a Link Crew leader to our new students. He wants the absolute best for every single person. He is a true Lasallian that our world needs more than ever.”
Mr. Berlin said, “Noah is very quick to volunteer as needed for De La Salle's many labor-intensive activities: Meet-the-Teacher Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open House, and the Christmas Craft Show. He truly recognizes the need and the value of service through volunteering. Our school community shines because young men like Noah step-up so readily and graciously to serve.”
Noah works with his grandfather, Mr. Ronald J. Woods, who directs the Ronald J. Woods Charitable Trust. The Trust has provided De La Salle Collegiate scholarships to Native Americans who attend the De La Salle Blackfeet school in Montana.
Noah and his parents, David and Nicole, live in St. Clair Shores and are members of St. Joan of Arc Parish.
